We aim to find the magic in the wild and meaning in small moments in between.
A FORMAL INTRO
About me
I’m Kat—a designer, photographer, and mom who feels most at home outside. What started as weekend wanderings quickly became something deeper: a pull toward documenting not just the sweeping views, but the quiet moments in between.
My professional background is in graphic design, photography, and marketing, and I have spent years shaping visuals and campaigns behind the scenes. But it wasn’t until I combined my creative side with my time outdoors that things really clicked. I started capturing our hikes, road trips, and backcountry adventures—first with friends, then my partner, and now, together with our daughter in tow.
These days, I use my skills to tell meaningful stories for outdoor brands and to document our own. From international trips to slow Sundays spent close to home, I’m here to capture the beauty, the wild and the connection that comes with choosing a life outside.
This space blends personal journals, field notes, and printed keepsakes. It’s where I share our stories and practical tips, reflect on what it means to raise a little one among wild places, and hope you’ll find some inspiration for your own path—whatever it looks like.
Thanks for visiting,
Kat
HOW WE GOT HERE
At 25, I quit my job—packed my car, hugged my loved ones and drove west in search of something new.
I spent four days driving from Ontario to Alberta, stopping to take photos of places that caught my eye. I had no plan, no job lined up—but I knew I wanted to snowboard more, get into hiking, and be closer to the mountains. I had always loved being outdoors, but after moving to Alberta, I dove in deeper.
I met my husband Ryan while on a weekend trip to the mountains, and together we started checking adventures off our list. We planned weekend getaways, took yearly road trips to the West Coast, and dreamed about month-long trips across countries we hadn’t yet been to.
We bought a tiny trailer and then got a dog named Hank—who, thankfully, loves camping as much as we do. More recently, we welcomed our daughter into the adventure and started sharing our love for the outdoors with her. Our trips might look a little different now, with more to pack and more to consider, but we’re learning as we go and sharing our experiences along the way.
I don’t want to forget these moments, so I’m documenting them here in my little corner of the internet.
